1. Artist name:
Haveck

2. Real name:
Adriano Garcia Haveck

3. Do you have any alternate identities that you’d like to disclose?
Yes I have a band project with my friend Alexander called LuzeCor

4. Where are you based out of?
Paraná, Southern Brazil

5. What is your favorite color or combination of colors?
Green!

6. If you could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
LOL Pasta !!

7. Is there a particular catch phrase you find yourself saying a lot?
I always catch me saying “the last one get out turn off the light and close the door” but in English it will not make any sense because it’s a Brazilian expression like “are all the same Politicians” :)

8. What’s one of your favorite places in the world to visit, and why?
I believe would be Rio de Janeiro a beautiful place but a little dangerous and also would be lovely get to know Dubai because it’s like a futuristic city

9. How long have you been producing? If you DJ as well, how long have you been DJing?
I started producing in 1997 and DJing since when I was a child many years ago hahaha.

10. Do you prefer working on original productions or remixes? Why?
I really like the remixes because I listen some samples or vocals from Original and this helps me to have inspiration. So very fast I have the entire tune in my mind

11. What platform do you sequence in (Logic, Cubase, Ableton, Fruity Loops, etc)?
Cubase Rulez!

12. What’s your favorite piece of gear or software to use in the studio right now?
I love my TL Audio Fat Track! I’m using it for summing as much as to record my synths too!!

13. Briefly describe a production technique that has dramatically improved your production skills. How did you discover this technique?
I don’t know if it’s a technique but my production improved when I started using two Computers “one as a sequencer and another as tone generator.” So this way I can using my External Synth or Vst Instrument both in real-time.

14. What words of wisdom would you give to up-and-coming producers?
When you’re thinking that you have already learned something it means that it is just the beginning! There are many great producers around the world and all of them want what you want. So be sure only you going to get your goals with much dedication and effort.

15. Post a link to a project that you are proud of:

http://soundcloud.com/n-o-v-a

Mizumo Music’s Artist of the Month – April 2012

RIGGERS

1. Artist name:

Riggers

2. Real name (if you’d like to disclose):

Mark Rigby

3. Do you have any alternate identities that you’d like to disclose?

Muntface, Gonuts, Squirrellyroo, Random Tangents & Uncle Boris’s Funk Explosion!

4. Where are you based out of?

Warilla, NSW, Australia, about an hour south of Sydney

5. What is your favorite color or combination of colors?

Green, Black, Red, Blue

6. If you could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Chicken Snitzel Burgers WITH TOMATO!

7. Is there a particular catch phrase you find yourself saying a lot?

I have a few; “Life’s like a poorly fitting mankini, there are some nuts out there” & “I’m bringing the funk to your function”

I have also been told I say “heaps” &” f*#ken oath” a lot by my Canadian and American buddies.

8. What’s one of your favorite places in the world to visit, and why?

BURNING MAN. Breathtakingly beautiful & the most creative place on earth!

9. How long have you been producing? If you DJ as well, how long have you been DJing?

I have been DJing for about 12 years and started off Djing breaks, mostly from the Fingerlickin Records catalogue. I got into producing because I wasn’t going to suck up to promoters for gigs, I’d rather write bangers and try and get gigs that way, by letting my music do the talking. I have been playing with all types of music for many years, singing and playing guitar in rock bands, fiddling with electronic alias’s, jamming with buddies etc. As Riggers I have been producing for about 2 years, with my first release out October 2010, closely followed by a 3l3tronic remix for Mizumo Music, which was one of my first remixes ever!

10. Do you prefer working on original productions or remixes? Why?

I really don’t haver a preference, for remixes something has to grab me from the original pack, it doesn’t have to be the whole pack. EG. I have to like a few of the synths, a specific bass sound, or sometimes even the overall concept gets me; like Kid Wobble – Rick James (Riggers Helluva Drug Remix) I am a massive Dave Chappelle fan so when I heard that “I’m Rick James Bitch!” vocal sample in that track I was sold already! Remixes open you up to new sounds that you may not use already and also help you meet other producers from around the world, which leads to free accomodation when you travel!!

As for originals there is nothing better than finishing a track top to bottom and seeing other people appreciating it! (And hopefully buying it too).

11. What platform do you sequence in (Logic, Cubase, Ableton, Fruity Loops, etc)?

Reason all the way!

12. What’s your favorite piece of gear or software to use in the studio right now?

Reason is my world, I have written and released entire tracks on my laptop, using headphones, and no external midi synths, Reason lets you rock it out without em!

13. Briefly describe a production technique that has dramatically improved your production skills. How did you discover this technique?

I really don’t have one technique that dramatically improved what I do, I think we are always learning through every track and remix, sometimes stumbling onto stuff that works and other times spending hours trying to make it work. I often stumble across something new and if it doesn’t work for the project I am working on, I open a freshie and save it in there so I don’t forget.

14. What words of wisdom would you give to up-and-coming producers?

Before I got my first release, I put up huge bits of cardboard all over my studio walls, I used these to write down all my ideas, what labels I wanted to be on, what artists I wanted to befriend, vocalists I wanted to use, any tricks I heard in tunes that I wanted to trial, new refills etc, basically anything I was thinking musically and promotionally. This allowed me to scribble frantically and never lose the ideas that come to you often during another project and kept me on track to more releases.

My main “words of wisdom” is to be open to constructive feedback, analyse the tracks and artists you love to death, take notes & try and mimic the things you like, adding your own flavour, and stay focussed on your overall goals. This is where my cardboarded walls helped! Above all the most useful tip I can give is make use of “youtube Tutorials”. No matter what software you use, there are tutorials out there to help get you started, get you synth sounds, basses etc. Spend some time, learn how to make good sounds before sequencing, and the tracks will sound “heaps” better!

15. Post a link to a project that you are proud of:

www.soundcloud.com/muntface this is a fresh new side project that involves me and Perfect Cell from Australia!

16. Post a random link to something that amuses you:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijr4rwb2WbE Jon la Joe – Pop Song This video is what todays top40 producers must refer to when writing a song!

17. What do you do in your spare time?

Make music! Go to festivals, drink, spend too much money!
