KLANGSTRUKTUR OST

Klangstruktur Ost is a trio based out of Berlin, Germany.  They are one of our label’s most consistent tech house & minimal remixers, dating back to 2009 with their take on Homero Espinosa & DJ Denise’s “Sugar Frosted Lover.”  Since then they have remixed songs by fellow Mizumo artists Martin Stork, Chauvin Mcintosh, Durty, Old Fat Jacko, Votchik, 5ilver 5urfer, and Cody White.  However, they’re not stopping there – KSO is already designated for 4 more remixes in 2012, if not more!  Read their interview below to learn more about one of our favorite and most reliable remix artists.

Berlin

5.  What is your favorite color or combination of colors?

Black, Blue and White

6.  If you could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pizza and noodles with tomato sauce I guess …

7.  Is there a particular catch phrase you find yourself saying a lot?

“warum hör ich nichts”

= “Why can I not hear anything” at least that’s what we say in our studio pretty often

8.  What’s one of your favorite places in the world to visit, and why? 

Shanghai, fascinating city! London because of its crazy and loud dubstep and drum´n´bass scene.

9.  How long have you been producing?  If you DJ as well, how long have you been DJing? 

We have been Djing for about 15 years and started producing in 2008.

10.  Do you prefer working on original productions or remixes?  Why? 

We love doing Remixes, always interesting to work with material we didn’t choose by ourselfs and then see where it goes…

11.  What platform do you sequence in (Logic, Cubase, Ableton, Fruity Loops, etc)? 

Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools

12.  What’s your favorite piece of gear or software to use in the studio right now? 

Ableton by far!

13.  Briefly describe a production technique that has dramatically improved your production skills.  How did you discover this technique?

The Sidechain function is probably the one we use the most. Learned it by watching tutorials and also went to an audio engineering school.

14.  What words of wisdom would you give to up-and-coming producers?

Just keep on doing what you love. To us its all about passion and the idea behind the music itself …

How to Submit Your Contest Entry

1.  Master your remix to the best of your ability.  If your entry wins, we will request a 24-bit wav or aiff premaster, so don’t worry if you don’t have a professional master for the Contest.

2.  Convert your file format to 320kbps mp3.

3.  Upload your remix to a file sharing service (like Sendspace, Yousendit, Mediafire, etc).

4.  E-mail the link to info@mizumomusic.com before the deadline.

Winners

We will choose 3 entries for a digital release on Beatport, iTunes, Junodownload, and all our other digital retail affiliates.  The chosen remixes will be those that are most suitable to our label, so please be sure to review our backcatalog and ensure your style fits our style.  Last year, we chose one broken-beat song, one tech-house song, and one electro-house song.  This year, we will again most likely choose songs in different genres, but this cannot be guaranteed as it will depend on the entries received.

Winners will be announced on this website and on our Facebook page on April 20, 2012.  The EP will be released in Summer 2012, exact date TBA.

Winners will also receive continued support from the label, additional remix opportunities, promos, T-shirts & stickers, and the satisfaction of being a part of the Mizumo family!

A Final Note…

Even though only 3 remixes will be selected for the release, please don’t get discouraged if your remix does not get chosen.  We take note of your effort & have reached out to several artists that participated in Remix Contest 01 that did not officially win the contest.  So even though your entry may not be chosen, there is still a chance that we will contact you for other projects in the future.

Last year when we were reviewing contest entries, one major factor that eliminated an entry right off the bat was if the bassline was the exact same as the original mix.  So get creative, chop up those samples, add your own original synths and riffs, and make the song your own!
